Dharan, december 2006, a message from Sansar

Namaste all,
Mr Henk and mrs Bimala returned to Kathmandu on nov 27. Mr Marcel, mr Eric and mrs Tabitha are returning from Tumlingtar on dec 2 and would start the remaining work of NCDO funding like the Pond protection, Dipendra school. The work of roof room at Duhabi is going on. This time Duhabi board is much active in doing the work by themselves.
In the past month altogether 20 volunteers from the Netherland visited us and contributed a lot in the projects (especially in the Duhabi home and Saraswati home). All of the members did their best from their side. Members like: mr Henk and mrs Bimala, mr Ton, mrs Jacqueline, mrs Rachel, mr Eric, mrs Tabitha, mr Marcel, the dentists team (dr Holt's team), miss Isis, mr Jip, mrs Laurien. Also 2 Dutch dental students (miss Martine, miss Vera) studying at BPKIHS, Dharan, were present during the Dental camp and in the programs at Duhabi.
In the initiation of mrs Laurien (concept of miss Ellen), a dance class is arranged at Duhabi home and Saraswati home. It is 2 hrs per week (in 1 day). Mr Prashant along with his students give the dance class. Mrs Laurien distributed a copy for each child at Duhabi home and Saraswati home. This copy was prepared by the children of similar age and presented to our children at children homes. The children were very happy on getting one for them. Our children got totally new thing and was inspired on creating something new. Also most of the children created the same copy to present back to his/her friend at Holland. The copy consisted the pictures, drawings, coins, nature scenes, feelings for his/her friend, paper cuttings and a lot more.
Laurien also presented a box for each child at Duhabi home where a child can keep his/her own belongings, and can develop a feeling of ownership and take care of his belongings. The wooden blocks box presented to Duhabi children will help explore creativity and develop their talents. The children were so motivated that they were eager to know what it was and in no time they could build building blocks of their own and prove their creativity. The children were also very happy on getting a photo album sent by Ellen from her family.
Mr Jip completed the playing ground at Duhabi home in 3 weeks. He himself was engaged with the working members at the site. This has given a new look to Duhabi home and different vision towards Duhabi home to the people at local level. The children can now play and learn according to their time. hildren have things like volleyball court, football ground, turning bar, playing cabin, balance beams, swing, slide and so on.
We had the Dental camp on 4 different locations and around 380 people were treated during the program. Apart from Saraswati home, Duhabi home and gumba, this year we did the Dental camp at Dipendra school as well. The program was basically focussed on the children. Also the 21 members from Disable Children Concern committee (Dharan old hospital) were invited at Gumba and treated well. Mr Bhim Rai is operating it and providing service to the disabled children over there. The Dental camp was organized on nov 12, 14, 15 and 16th (half day on 12th and 3 full days). Also the students from BPKIHS were involved in the camp.
Mr Ton is the financial professional and have suggested some changes in the account keeping procedure. We also visited the SOS children's village and consulted Mr Ramesh Tamrakar regarding the children development and the problems at Duhabi home. Shyam sir returned back from Australia on nov 16th. All the Dutch volunteers brought gifts and material supports to the children. Now almost all the members are gone and Mr Marcel will stay with us for 3 more months and will assist us in the proper management.
Thank you, Sansar, SHC, Dharan, Nepal
